Our annual

public is welcome and encouraged to join us. Please contact our

Each Christmas, Fir Lane
Memorial Park in conjunction with the Spanaway Historical Society
offers Christmas wreaths for grave placement or personal use.
Wreaths may be ordered beginning in November with the proceeds
benefiting the Spanaway Historical
Society.
Prairie House Museum
Some years ago, we donated the Overaa family
farmhouse to the Spanaway Historical Society. The house dates from
the early 1900s and rests on one corner of the cemetery. For many
years it had been used as rental housing and was in need of major
restoration.
The Historical Society has undertaken the
restoration project with enthusiasm and the support of Fir Lane.
Events have included charity auctions held in the Fir Lane parking
locate with items being donoted by individuals and local
businesses.
Tours through the museum regularly are provided for
senior citizen groups. But for school children the tours are
expanded to include a variety of hands-on experiences such as
butter-churning and playing hopscotch.
Recently, the Historical Society restored the farm's
old barn, also donated by Fir Lane, so visitors can see the hay
loft, milking stations for the cows and a blacksmith shop. Fir
Lane's maintenance crewmen donated many hours of assistance while
at work and on their own time to help complete the
restorations.
The Prairie House Museum was
officially dedicated in 1989 and continues to be supported by a
Christmas Wreath program sponsored by Fir Lane. Families with
loved ones buried at Fir Lane purchase wreaths to be placed
on graves during the holidays and proceeds benefit the
museum.
